Dan Whitney brings his many years of experience in land planning, land management, subdivision management, housing market research, and land brokerage to the Evergreen team.  He is excited to add another dimension to the group of land experts at Evergreen as a widely recognized expert on Kansas City area residential housing trends and provider of the MarketGraphics housing research reports. Dan is excited to expand his brokerage activities to include non-residential uses as well.

Dan’s professional career started as a Landscape Architect focused on residential subdivision design. His interest in developments and housing market dynamics led him to obtain a Masters in Marketing and accept a position as a Land Manager for a publicly traded home building company. That position involved managing the contract and due diligence processes, working with cities, engineers, designers, attorneys, internal marketing teams and members of the public to bring communities to life. After six years in that role, he moved back to Kansas City in 1999 to start Landmarketing, Inc. a housing industry consulting company.

Landmarketing offered MarketGraphics, a nationally recognized market research system for tracking all new housing activity. His clients have included the majority of banks in the metro area, builders, developers, utility companies, suppliers, the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City and numerous cities. His consulting services encompassed feasibility studies for residential and commercial developments and subdivision design, management and development.

In 2003 the company began offering land brokerage services to its growing list of builder and developer clients. Since then, he has provided brokerage services, mostly as a buyer’s agent to clients throughout the metro area. Properties have ranged from a 15 acre townhome project in Kansas City north to a 715 acre parcel in south Overland Park. He assisted numerous banks dispose of distressed properties as well as helping numerous clients make wise, market data driven purchases after the recession.

Dan will continue to provide his many MarketGraphics clients with the latest housing updates while expanding his brokerage efforts for residential land and commercial properties. In addition, the popular monthly permit report will continue to be published as the Green Report through the research arm of this new venture. His reputation and depth of knowledge of the local housing market will provide additional resources to the already robust Land Source/Evergreen expertise.

Dan is a licensed broker in Kansas and Missouri. He lives in Olathe with his wife, Carol. They have two daughters, Erin, a teacher at Pioneer Trail elementary school and Sarah, a senior at K-State, and a son, Jack, who lives in Breckenridge, Colorado. His hobbies are British cars, playing with grandbabies, garage time (welding, grinding and grunting!), landscaping and exercise.
